Bowl of Fruit - General Update Pattern Special Cases

Bowl of Fruit - General Update Pattern Special Cases

A bowl of fruit demonstrates the general update pattern special cases as apples are eaten and replaced with lemons over time. The SVG visualization uses d3 data joins to handle entering, updating, and exiting elements, with d3.scaleOrdinal mapping fruit types to colors and radii. The code imports scaleOrdinal and select from d3 v5, binding fruit data to groups that contain circles and text labels, while timeout-driven mutations trigger re-renders. The bowl is rendered as a rounded rectangle, and clicking a fruit logs to the console.

Bowl of Fruit - General Update Pattern

A dynamic SVG visualization demonstrates the general update pattern in D3 v5, where fruit appears as colored circles that grow, shrink, and change color as apples are eaten and replaced with lemons. The fruitBowl module uses d3.scaleOrdinal for color and radius scales, with enter, merge, and exit selections chained to transition.attr for smooth 1000-millisecond animations. Data updates triggered by setTimeout calls modify the fruits array, showing how keyed data joins handle additions, removals, and modifications while maintaining circle identity.

Bowl of Fruit - General Update Pattern

A bowl of fruit demonstrates D3's general update pattern, showing apples and lemons as circles that are added, removed, or converted to different types. The visualization uses d3.scaleOrdinal for color and radius mappings, while data joins with key functions handle enter, update, and exit selections. SVG circles and text labels animate their radius changes via transition().duration(1000). The code uses d3.range to generate initial data and setTimeout to trigger state changes over time.

Bowl of Fruit - General Update Pattern with Bowl

This example demonstrates the general update pattern in D3, showing a bowl of fruit that changes over time as apples are eaten and replaced with lemons. The visualization renders circles and labels inside an SVG, using `d3.scaleOrdinal` for color and radius mapping based on fruit type. Data updates are handled through enter, merge, and exit selections, with circles and text appended to groups. The bowl itself is a static rounded rectangle, while the fruit transitions are driven by timed state changes.

Bowl of Fruit - General Update Pattern

A bowl of fruit demonstrates the D3 general update pattern, showing how data changes animate in and out of an SVG visualization. Circles and text labels represent apples and lemons, which appear, disappear, and change type over time. The implementation uses `d3.selectAll`, `.enter()`, `.merge()`, and `.exit()` to handle data joins, while `d3.scaleOrdinal` maps fruit types to colors and radii. The example runs a timed sequence of data mutations to illustrate how updates, additions, and removals are managed.

Bowl of Fruit - General Update Pattern Special Cases With Animation

A bowl of fruit demonstrates D3’s General Update Pattern with animated enter, update, and exit stages. Multiple apples and lemons are drawn as SVG circles with text labels, using d3.scaleOrdinal for color and radius. The example uses selection.merge and transition.duration to animate position and radius changes when fruits are added, removed, or replaced over timed intervals.

Bowl of Fruit - General Update Pattern Special Cases

A dynamic bowl of fruit demonstrates D3's general update pattern for handling data changes. Simulated fruit purchases add apples and transform them into lemons, with each change triggering animated updates. The visualization renders SVG circles with size and color scales mapped to fruit type. D3 v5's join operation manages enter, update, and exit transitions, animating positional shifts and radius changes over 500 milliseconds.

Bowl of Fruit - General Update Pattern Special Cases

A bowl of fruit visualizes the general update pattern with special cases. It shows apples and lemons as colored circles in a fixed bowl, with each fruit's type label beneath it. The code uses D3 v5's `scaleOrdinal` for color and radius scales, then applies the update pattern via `selection.selectAll` and `.merge` to handle entering, updating, and exiting elements. SVG rendering positions fruits horizontally, with a static rect forming the bowl.
