Virus chloropleth west nile 2016

This D3.js (v3) SVG choropleth map displays total reported West Nile virus cases for each U.S. state in 2016, using a logarithmic color scale from cyan to black. State boundaries are rendered via the AlbersUSA projection, and hovering over a state triggers a tooltip showing its name and case count. The data is loaded from a local text file, and the map is built by merging CSV values with a GeoJSON file of U.S. state shapes.

Virus chloropleth West Nile 2015

This map shows the total number of West Nile virus cases per U.S. state in 2015, with a logarithmic color scale ranging from cyan to black and a tooltip displaying exact values on hover. Built with D3 v3, it uses `d3.geo.albersUsa` and `d3.geo.path` to render SVG state boundaries from a GeoJSON file, while case data is loaded from a CSV and joined to the map features. The visualization is a modified version of Michelle Chandra’s basic U.S. state map, incorporating tooltip and legend code from other D3 examples.

A blank SVG canvas with a single text element reading an empty label in the Wingdings font. The visualization loads two datasets of West Nile virus case counts by U.S. state for 2015 and 2016, but the code does not parse or render them. The example relies on d3.v4 to append the SVG and set basic attributes, with no data binding, scales, or layout functions implemented.

This visualization displays West Nile virus case data for U.S. states from 2015 and 2016, comparing neuroinvasive and non-neuroinvasive disease cases, total cases, deaths, and presumptive viremic blood donors. The example uses D3 v4 to create an SVG canvas, though the main visualization logic is not implemented—the code only appends an empty text element with Wingdings font. The data files contain tabular state-level statistics, but no chart or graphic is rendered in the current script. The source text files provide the underlying information, while the SVG setup prepares the framework.

West Nile Virus (simplified)

This visualization is a choropleth map of the United States showing West Nile virus cases by state, using a logarithmic color scale from pink to red to represent the number of total cases. Tooltips appear on hover to reveal state-specific data. The map is rendered as SVG using D3 v3, with `d3.geo.albersUsa` for the projection and `d3.geo.path` for drawing state boundaries. Data is loaded from a CSV file and merged with US state GeoJSON, while the color legend and hover effects are adapted from examples by Scott Murray, Malcolm Maclean, and Mike Bostock.
