This world population area chart displays global population growth over time, with the y-axis labeled in billions and the x-axis representing years. The visualization uses an SVG area chart where the filled region beneath the curve is rendered in maroon. Built with D3 v5, the code employs `d3.scaleTime` for the time axis, `d3.scaleLinear` for population values, and `d3.area` with `curveBasis` to generate the smooth filled path. Data comes from a CSV file of world population by year, processed and mapped to date objects for the time scale.
