This streamgraph visualization shows the commit history of the D3.js ecosystem, with each colored layer representing a repository and its thickness reflecting the number of commits per week. The data comes from the all-d3-commits JSON, processed with d3.stack and stackOffsetWiggle, while d3.areaLabel positions repository names within the layers. Layers are ordered by first-commit time, highlighting the monolithic d3 repository’s development before the 2014 4.0 package explosion. The code uses d3.scaleTime, d3.scaleLinear, array-blur for smoothing, and renders to SVG with hover effects that highlight individual areas.
