JS in HTML

This example shows a minimal HTML page displaying the text “Hello HTML!” in large, centered type, demonstrating how CSS and JavaScript integrate into a static page. It loads D3 v6 from a CDN and uses an ES module import in `index.js` to pull in a constant from `something.js`, though no D3 API is actually invoked. The styling is handled by a `.message` CSS class, and the page relies on standard DOM elements rather than any rendering or visualization library.

enter update exit

This example demonstrates the visual lifecycle of SVG circles as they enter, update, and exit within a web browser window. It renders 75 circles, each with a position and radius that oscillate over time, creating a wave-like pattern across the screen. The animation updates every 50 milliseconds, adjusting each circle's cy (vertical position) and r (radius) based on a sine function and the current time step. The code uses d3.select and d3.range to generate data, and manually manipulates SVG circle elements through the DOM API (document.createElementNS, getElementsByTagName) rather than relying on d3's data join methods. The rendering is done entirely in SVG with no external data source.

d3 start

This example creates a striped grid of horizontal and vertical rectangles, each masked so that the overlap reveals alternating symbol shapes. The visualization uses D3 v6’s `symbol` API to draw seven distinct shapes—circle, cross, diamond, square, star, triangle, and wye—as SVG paths inside two mask definitions. The masks are applied via the `mask` attribute to the rects, which are generated with `d3.range` and `join`. The page captures the full window dimensions, scaling the SVG and grid accordingly, and demonstrates a minimal React-free setup with D3 selections.
