A kaleidoscope animation built entirely with CSS 3D transforms and divs, overlaid on a pizza image. The page constructs a hexagonal tiling from six triangular divs, each using nested transforms with rotations and scaling to map the image into a kaleidoscopic pattern. The animation cycles through the kaleidoscope’s symmetrical views by shifting the hexagon positions, creating a continuously morphing, mirrored effect.

A grid of small circles and hexagon-like arrangements of rounded orange rectangles animates in a staggered transition. The visualization generates a field of triangular tile motifs, where each tile contains three small circles and three rounded rectangles positioned at their edges. Initially, the rectangles and circles sit at the tile centers; after a delay, they rotate outward to the triangle’s midpoints. Using D3.js with SVG transitions, the code applies `translate` and `rotate` transforms to reposition elements, driven by trigonometric calculations for hexagon geometry. The rendering uses D3 selections and transitions, with data-bound groups and nested arrays to handle multiple coordinates.

This animated WebGL shader piece generates a sequence of vibrant, radial visual effects. Using fragment shaders, it computes pixel colors in real time based on normalized coordinates, time, and mouse position. The first effect creates a pulsing red-orange ring with rotating angular patterns, while the others layer polar modular repetitions, wave distortions, and sine-based color modulation to produce intricate, evolving mandala-like forms. The result is a dynamic, abstract composition with flowing shapes and shifting hues.

A rotating carousel cycles through a list of slider frames, each displaying a distinct visual effect. The code uses `requestInterval` to trigger frame transitions every four seconds, removing the first frame and appending a cloned copy to the end. Stylus styles define three transition effects—fade, scroll-down, and scroll-left—using CSS `transition` properties with `transform: translate3d` and opacity changes. The example demonstrates pure CSS-based animation without a charting library, relying on DOM manipulation and hardcoded item dimensions for offset calculations.

Spiral Triangle

A mesmerizing, topologically impossible animation shows a spiral of black-stroked white squares rotating and translating within two triangular clipping regions. The piece recreates a GIF by PATAKK, using an SVG scene with upper and lower clip paths. The code uses d3.v3’s `d3.selectAll`, `d3.range`, and `d3.timer` to drive square transforms, while each square’s position and rotation are computed from a normalized index and elapsed time.

Hexagonal SVG gradient experiment

A grid of hexagons fills the page, each one displaying a linear gradient oriented along one of three angles, with colors randomly drawn from a dark rainbow palette. The animation progressively reveals hexagons starting from the center, growing outward in a wave-like pattern. Built with D3 v5 and SVG, the code constructs hexagon paths using trigonometric calculations and applies randomized gradient definitions through the SVG `defs` element.

Fork of SVG Animation Playground

This example demonstrates an SVG animation inspired by the opening crawl of Star Wars, featuring two rotating images and a spinning headline that fade in and out with a 3D perspective effect. The animation uses CSS keyframes defined in a separate stylesheet, with properties like `transform`, `opacity`, and `translateZ` to create scale, rotation, and depth transitions over a 10-second infinite loop. The scene is composed of inline SVG images loaded from external gist URLs, styled with the `Lato` font, and set against a fixed background image. The container uses `perspective` and `transform-style: preserve-3d` to enable the three-dimensional motion.

This example presents a full-screen, animated canvas of randomly colored square pixels that continuously redraws itself. It shows how a simple generative pattern can create a dynamic, shifting mosaic across the entire browser window. The code uses the Canvas 2D API with `fillRect` and `requestAnimationFrame` to refresh the display, while each frame assigns new random RGB values to every pixel block. The visualization responds to window resizing by updating the canvas dimensions, and it is rendered inside a draggable, resizable widget container.

CSS 3D cube

This example shows a wireframe-style cube rendered in 3D using CSS transforms and perspective. The cube is composed of six square faces, each positioned and rotated with the `rotateY` and `rotateX` functions applied to `translateZ` values, creating a three-dimensional structure. The code relies on CSS variables and the `-webkit-transform-style: preserve-3d` property to maintain depth. It uses only static HTML and CSS, with no JavaScript or external libraries, and the faces are given semi-transparent backgrounds and inset shadows for visual clarity.
