This example demonstrates the Foucaut projections, an 1862 family of equal-area map projections. An interactive slider adjusts the alpha parameter, morphing between the sinusoidal projection (alpha = 0) and the Lambert cylindrical projection (alpha = 1). The visualization overlays a world landmass and country boundaries atop a graticule, with a slider controlling the current projection state. The code uses D3 v4 with `d3.geoProjection`, `d3.geoPath`, and `d3.geoGraticule`, rendering to SVG, with world data loaded from the visionscarto-world-atlas package.

AI-generated description

Foucaut projections (1862), according to Waldo Tobler (1973).

Parameter alpha between 0 (sinusoidal projection) and 1 (Lambert cylindrical projection).

Initial research by Philippe Rivière for d3-geo-projection issue #66.

Note that this is the easy part of #66 :)
