This interactive bar chart displays the results of the 2016 Colombian peace agreement plebiscite, showing the percentage of votes for "Yes," "No," and abstentions by department. A dropdown menu lets viewers switch between the three voting variables, and the bars are sorted by percentage. The visualization uses the reusable d3.svg.barchart API from d3.v3, rendering with SVG and providing animated transitions when the data changes. The underlying data is loaded from a CSV file and structured using d3.nest, with the chart drawing its y-axis gridlines and labels through d3.svg.axis.

Quienes votaron y quienes se abstuvieron

This bar chart shows the percentage of voters who abstained (Se Abstuvo), voted No, voted Yes, or cast invalid votes (No Válidos) in a referendum, broken down by Colombian department. The data reveals that abstention dominates in every region, ranging from over 53% in Bogotá to nearly 80% in San Andrés Islas, with the "No" and "Sí" options accounting for smaller shares of the vote. The visualization uses a reusable D3 v3 bar chart module rendered as SVG, with animated bar height transitions that update based on the selected category, a rotated x-axis for readability, and an interactive chart instance that toggles between categories (Se Abstuvo, Voto NO, Voto SI, No Válidos) for each department.

Votaciones por el plebiscito 2016

This visualization presents the results of the 2016 Colombian peace plebiscite, showing the distribution of votes for "Sí", "No", invalid votes, and abstentions across departments. Built with D3.js and crossfilter, it features grouped bar charts where each department displays four bars representing vote categories, with an option to sort results via checkbox. The chart is rendered in SVG, with department codes on the x-axis and vote counts on a linear scale, using a simple steelblue bar style for clarity. The dataset, from the National Civil Registry, reveals that Bogotá, Antioquia, and Valle del Cauca had the highest participation, underscoring their decisive role in the 2016 Colombian peace plebiscite. The visualization makes it easy to compare voting behaviors across regions, though the disparity between large abstentions and valid votes is striking. The example uses D3 v3 with crossfilter to demonstrate how to build a grouped bar chart with an interactive sort toggle.

Quienes votaron y quienes se abstuvieron

This bar chart, built with D3.js v3, shows voter participation and abstention across Colombian departments. Each bar is segmented into four stacked categories—votes for “Sí” (Yes), votes for “No,” invalid votes, and abstentions—ordered ascending by total. The reusable barchart component animates bar heights on load, uses rotated x-axis labels for department names, and includes a grid via y-axis tick marks. Data covers departments like Amazonas, Antioquia, and Bogotá D.C., with percentages per category.

Como votaran los municipios de acuerdo al grado de afectacion

This visualization shows aggregated voting results for Colombian municipalities, grouped by level of impact (Alto, Intermedio, Bajo, Ninguno) and voting type (SI, NO, invalid votes, and abstention). It uses a reusable bar chart component built with D3 v3, rendered as an SVG with animated transitions. The chart displays percentage values for each voting category across the four impact levels, with bars that animate in height and rotate x-axis labels for readability. The data reveals patterns such as higher abstention rates in municipalities with high impact ("Alto") compared to those with no impact ("Ninguno"), and illustrates how voting preferences shift across impact categories. The visualization is implemented as a custom reusable chart function, `d3.svg.barchart`, which supports configurable margins, scales, and transitions.

Quienes votaron y quienes se abstuvieron

This example visualizes voter participation in Santander, distinguishing between those who voted and those who abstained. It presents an interactive dendrogram and tree diagram, where internal nodes appear in red and leaves in blue, with a radio button to switch between the two layout modes. The visualization is built with D3 v4, using the `d3.stratify()` API to convert a CSV dataset into a hierarchy and `d3.cluster()`/`d3.tree()` to compute layouts. A smooth transition, driven by `d3.transition()`, animates the node positions when toggling between modes, with the data sourced from a local `data.csv` file.

Plebiscito

This example maps the results of the 2016 Colombian peace agreement plebiscite using Leaflet. It shows a choropleth-style dot map where each municipality is represented by a circle: the circle’s size encodes the total number of votes, its color indicates whether the winning vote was “SI” or “NO,” and its opacity reflects the margin of victory. The visualization loads geographic and vote data from a local `plebiscito.json` file and uses Leaflet’s `L.circle` to render the proportional symbols over an OpenStreetMap tile layer. Popups detail the winner, vote percentages, and raw counts for each location.
