A circular chord diagram visualizes material flows between building systems and the environment, using color to distinguish categories like occupants, flooring, and millwork. The D3.js v5 code builds the diagram with `d3.chord`, `d3.arc`, and `d3.ribbon`, rendering SVG paths with ordinal color scales and group tick labels. Data is embedded as a JavaScript matrix object, with custom group tick functions calculating angles for labeled segments.

Healthy Materials-Chord Diagram

This chord diagram visualizes the relationships between building material categories and their occupants or environmental impacts, using a circular matrix layout. The code employs D3 v5’s `d3.chord`, `d3.arc`, and `d3.ribbon` APIs to render SVG paths, with color encoding distinguishing occupants, environment, and other material groups. Labels for each category appear as rotated tick marks, while ribbons show weighted connections between entities. The data is hardcoded as a JavaScript object, and the visualization uses a static SVG canvas with a custom color scale.

Chord Diagram2

A chord diagram visualizes directed relationships among groups, here showing material-system connections in construction trades such as Occupants, Flooring, and Structure. Each group appears as an arc segment, with ribbons linking entities proportionally to the matrix values. The example uses D3 v5’s `d3.chord`, `d3.arc`, and `d3.ribbon` to compute and render the layout in SVG, with a custom `groupTicks` function and a pre-defined color scale. Data is embedded as a JavaScript object, and the diagram is rotated 75 degrees with labeled tick marks.

Chord I

A chord diagram visualizes directed relationships among four entities, with ribbons showing the magnitude of flow between groups and colored arcs representing each group’s total. The layout mirrors Circos and Martin Krzywinski’s design. Built with D3 v4, the code uses `d3.chord` to compute the chord layout, `d3.arc` for the group arcs, and `d3.ribbon` for the connecting bands. Colors come from `d3.scaleOrdinal`, and tick labels are formatted via `d3.formatPrefix`, with matrix data hardcoded in the source.

Chord Layout

A chord diagram displays three groups of flows, with each group’s values (`10, 20, 30`, etc.) represented as ribbons connecting around a circle. The diagram uses d3’s `d3.chord` layout to compute chord paths and `d3.ribbon` with a fixed radius of 200 to generate the curved ribbon shapes. Static example data is loaded directly from a JavaScript array, and the SVG output is styled via CSS with light fills and strokes. The visualization renders paths inside a `<g>` element translated to center the layout.

Chord Chard Diagram

A chord diagram visualizes five nodes (a through e) with uniform connections between all pairs, except for a double-weighted link from node e to itself. The chart uses D3 v5’s `d3.chord` and `d3.ribbon` to draw the ribbons and arcs, with labels positioned using `d3.arc` and trigonometric transforms. Data comes from a static JSON matrix defined in `flare.js`, rendered as SVG within a React component, with colors assigned via `d3.scaleOrdinal` and `d3.schemeCategory10`.

Chord Diagram

This chord diagram visualizes a 4x4 matrix of directed relationships, with ribbon thickness and arc sizes encoding the numeric values. The static SVG renders using `d3.chord()`, `d3.arc()`, and `d3.ribbon()` layouts, with group ticks and formatted labels generated by `d3.formatPrefix`. Categories are assigned colors via `d3.scaleOrdinal` over a custom palette. The code defines its own `groupTicks` function to position tick marks along each arc, while ribbons are filled by target-group color with a darker stroke.

Chord

This visualization uses a chord diagram to display the pairwise relationships in a 10x10 numeric matrix, with each node representing a class from a CSV file. The diagram shows ribbons connecting the nodes, where each ribbon’s color reflects the source or target node based on which has a higher value, and its opacity is fixed at 0.5. The code loads data with `d3.csv` and `d3.json`, then uses `d3.chord` to compute the chord layout, `d3.ribbon` for the connecting paths, and `d3.arc` for the outer arcs, all rendered as SVG within a React-compatible HTML page using D3 v6.

D3 - Chord Diagram

This chord diagram uses d3.chord and d3.ribbon to visualize a 3x3 matrix of numeric relationships as interconnected arcs. The chord generator sorts subgroups in ascending order and applies a 0.04 radian pad angle, while the ribbon generator sets a fixed radius of 200. Data is embedded directly in the JavaScript as a three-row array. The resulting SVG paths are rendered with d3.select and the join operation, which binds the chord data to path elements and assigns the ribbon path data. The styling in styles.css fills the paths with a light gray and adds a subtle stroke and opacity, creating a clean, static representation of the matrix.
