This is a generative SVG reproduction of Sol LeWitt’s wall drawing, shown vertically across the full browser viewport. A circular mask, defined via SVG `<mask>` and a white circle, reveals only the central region of a grid of 100 horizontal and 100 vertical black rects. The horizontal rects are layered beneath the vertical ones and clipped by the mask, creating a contrasting circular window. The piece uses raw JavaScript DOM manipulation with `document.createElementNS` to build the SVG elements dynamically, with no external libraries.

Sol LeWitt reproduction Vertical

A web-based reproduction of Sol LeWitt's wall drawing, rendered as a full-screen SVG using programmatic JavaScript. The piece displays a grid of thin, alternating horizontal and vertical gray bars, with a circular mask that inverts the contrast in the center, creating a subtle optical effect. It uses the raw SVG DOM API (`createElementNS`) to build elements, applying two masks (`circle-mask` and `circle-mask2`) to control visibility. The design is generated entirely in code, with no external libraries, drawing 100 horizontal and 100 vertical rectangles.

Sol LeWitt Reproduction Vertical

This reproduction of a Sol LeWitt wall drawing uses SVG to display two sets of perpendicular, evenly spaced horizontal and vertical lines. A circular mask restricts the visible pattern to a central disc, creating a clean, geometric composition. The code uses the Document API (`document.createElementNS`) to build the SVG structure and applies a `<mask>` with a `<circle>` to clip the lines. It generates one hundred horizontal and vertical `<rect>` elements, each ten pixels thick, with the horizontal band masked. The visual effect directly mimics LeWitt’s instructional art, translating his line-based system into an interactive browser window.

Sol LeWitt Reproduction Vertical

This example reproduces a Sol LeWitt-inspired drawing using raw SVG and JavaScript, displaying a grid of narrow horizontal rectangles that become visible only within a central circular mask. The code creates an SVG canvas via `document.createElementNS`, defines a mask with a single circle, and generates 100 stacked `<rect>` elements, each 10 pixels tall, that intersect the mask to form the final composition. The result is a precise, minimal geometric pattern whose vertical bands are revealed through the circular aperture, mimicking the clean, systematic aesthetic of LeWitt's wall drawings without any external libraries.

Sol LeWitt Reproduction

A full-window SVG reproduces a Sol LeWitt wall drawing by layering two sets of thin, evenly spaced rectangular bars that intersect at right angles. A circular mask constrains the first set of horizontal bars and a second, inverted circular mask hides the second set of vertical bars, creating a crisp circular boundary around the woven grid pattern. The rendering is generated procedurally with native DOM creation methods and SVG `mask` elements, using `document.createElementNS` to construct 100 horizontal and vertical rects without any external library.

Sol LeWitt Reproduction Vertical

This example reproduces a Sol LeWitt art piece using two sets of horizontal and vertical SVG rectangles layered with circular masks. The first mask confines a series of 100 horizontal strips to a central circle, while a second inverted mask exposes vertical strips only outside that same circle. The code builds the SVG dynamically with `document.createElementNS`, setting each rectangle’s dimensions and applying the masks via URL references. The result is a geometric composition of alternating line directions, with no external data source—pure algorithmic drawing in the browser.

Sol LeWitt reproduction

This piece reproduces a Sol LeWitt wall drawing using JavaScript to generate SVG elements dynamically. It displays a composition of horizontal and vertical striped rectangles that form a distinct circular pattern at the center of the viewport. The rendering uses two SVG masks, `inner-circle-mask` and `outer-circle-mask`, to control the visibility of the 100 horizontal and 100 vertical `<rect>` elements, which are sized relative to the window’s dimensions. The code relies on basic SVG APIs such as `createElementNS`, `setAttribute`, and `appendChild` to construct the artwork.

Sol LeWitt ReproductioN

This piece reproduces a Sol LeWitt wall drawing as an interactive SVG composition. It shows a grid of horizontal and vertical black lines that intersect across the full browser window, except within a circular mask centered on the screen. The code uses raw JavaScript to construct and append SVG elements, creating 100 horizontal and 100 vertical rectangles. Only the horizontal lines are clipped by the mask, which is defined using the SVG `mask` element and referenced via the `url(#circle-mask)` attribute, leaving the vertical lines unbroken. The work is generated entirely from the code’s geometry, echoing LeWitt’s instruction-based art.

Sol LeWitt Reproduction - vertical

This piece recreates Sol LeWitt’s vertical line drawing by rendering 100 horizontal and 100 vertical SVG rectangles across the full viewport. A circular mask, defined with two SVG `<mask>` elements, restricts each set of lines to a central ring: white lines appear inside the circle, while black lines fill the area outside it. The code builds all elements imperatively using `document.createElementNS` and `setAttribute`, with no D3 methods applied despite the library being imported. The result is a crisp, geometric interplay of line orientation and masked contrast.
