A WebGL globe, built with Three.js and the ThreeGlobe plugin, visualizes country polygons from a Natural Earth GeoJSON file. The scene rotates automatically and supports interactive zooming and rotation via TrackballControls. A post-processing BloomEffect enhances the visual output, while d3.timer drives the animation loop. The code uses D3.js to fetch the geographic data, which is rendered with semi-transparent orange caps and dark strokes.

A 3D Earth globe rendered in Three.js visualizes country boundaries from a GeoJSON file, with each polygon colored in warm amber tones. The globe rotates continuously as users can interact via TrackballControls for panning and zooming. Post-processing effects from the `postprocessing` library add a bloom glow to the scene. The code loads the ThreeGlobe library to display the earth texture and topology bump map, while D3's timer drives the animation loop.

This visualization presents global migrant deaths using a linked-view design, combining an interactive world map and a brushing histogram. A D3 `geoNaturalEarth1` projection renders country boundaries and graticules, while the map displays circles scaled proportionally to the number of dead and missing migrants. Dragging a brush across the time-based histogram filters the map in real-time, highlighting only deaths within the selected date range. Built with React and D3 v5, it uses `d3.scaleSqrt`, `d3.bin`, and `d3.brushX` for data processing and interaction. Data comes from the Missing Migrants Project, sourced as a CSV file.

Fork of Migrant Deaths Linked Views with Fast Brushing

A linked-view visualization combines a world map with a date histogram to explore migrant deaths. The map uses D3's `geoNaturalEarth1` projection to plot cities as circles scaled by the number of deaths. The histogram uses `scaleTime` binning and a brush to filter the map's displayed data. The implementation leverages React's `useMemo` for performance and D3 v5, with SVG marks drawn via `geoPath`.

Fork of Migrant Deaths Linked Views with Fast Brushing

This visualization tracks migrant deaths and disappearances through linked views: a world map with sized bubbles and a time-series histogram. Data comes from the Missing Migrants Project, filtered by brushing the histogram. The code uses D3 v5 for geo projection (`geoNaturalEarth1`, `geoPath`), scales, histogram binning with `timeMonths`, and `brushX`, all rendered as SVG within a React framework. Brushing updates the map’s circles to reflect the selected date range.

Fork of Migrant Deaths Linked Views with Fast Brushing

This visualization combines a world bubble map and a time-series histogram to explore migrant deaths globally. The map uses a natural Earth projection with `d3.geoPath` and `d3.geoNaturalEarth1` to plot points sized by `scaleSqrt` based on the "Total Dead and Missing" value. A `d3.brushX` on the timeline filters the map’s circles in real time, while `useMemo` optimizes rendering. Data comes from the Missing Migrants Project CSV, with country boundaries from World Atlas TopoJSON.

Fork of Migrant Deaths Linked Views with Fast Brushing

This linked-view visualization plots migrant deaths and missing persons on a natural Earth projection map, with a time-series histogram below. A brush on the histogram filters the map’s circles, which are scaled by the square-root of total dead and missing. The code uses D3 v5 modules like `geoNaturalEarth1`, `geoPath`, `geoGraticule`, `scaleSqrt`, `scaleTime`, and `brushX`, integrated within React’s `useMemo` and `useEffect` hooks. Data is loaded via `d3.csv` from a Missing Migrants Project subset, with SVG rendering for both the map and histogram.

Fork of Migrant Deaths Linked Views with Fast Brushing

This visualization combines a world map of migrant deaths with a time-series histogram, enabling linked brushing to filter events by date. The map uses a natural Earth projection with scaled circles, while the histogram aggregates monthly death tolls. Built with React and D3 v5, it employs `d3.geoNaturalEarth1`, `geoPath`, `scaleSqrt`, `brushX`, and reusable components. Data comes from the Missing Migrants Project CSV, with country boundaries from World Atlas TopoJSON.

Fork of Migrant Deaths Linked Views with Fast Brushing

This interactive visualization combines a bubble map and a time-series histogram to explore migrant deaths worldwide. The map displays circles sized by the total dead and missing, while brushing the histogram filters the map’s circles in real-time. It uses React with `useMemo` for efficient rendering, D3 v5 for scales, `geoNaturalEarth1` projection, and `brushX` for linked selections. Data comes from a CSV of global migrant incidents, with country boundaries from World Atlas TopoJSON.
