This example shows four black vertical bars of varying heights arranged across a 600-by-500 SVG canvas, creating a simple ranking or categorical comparison. No JavaScript libraries are used; the visualization consists solely of static SVG `<rect>` elements defined directly in the HTML markup. Each rectangle has an explicit `x`, `y`, `width`, and `height` attribute, with heights descending from left to right. The data source is embedded in the markup itself, and the rendering relies on the browser’s native SVG support without any interaction or animation.

SVG Fundementals

This example shows a minimalist bar chart created with five black rectangles of varying heights and positions on a white background, representing abstract data values across a 960-by-500 viewBox. It renders directly in SVG elements defined inline within the HTML, using the `rect` tag with explicit `x`, `y`, `width`, and `height` attributes. The code relies on basic CSS to remove page margins and set overflow to hidden, with no JavaScript libraries or external data sources involved.

SVG Example

Five static SVG rectangles form a simple bar chart, descending diagonally from the top-left to the bottom-right. The bars have equal widths and varying heights and y-positions, creating a staircase-like visual from a hardcoded JavaScript array of objects. The example uses D3 v4’s selection API to append rectangles to an SVG canvas, setting x, y, width, and height attributes from the data. The code demonstrates basic declarative binding of data to SVG shapes without animation or axes.

SVG Example

This example demonstrates the fundamental structure of SVG graphics with five colored rectangles arranged to form a pseudo-bar chart. The rectangles decrease in height from left to right, with each bar positioned at a different vertical offset. The visualization uses raw SVG elements—specifically `<svg>` and `<rect>` tags—embedded directly in an HTML document, with hard-coded width, height, and position attributes. No JavaScript libraries or data sources are involved, showcasing SVG's native capability for static vector rendering.

SVG fundamental

This example shows four black horizontal bars of decreasing width labeled A through D, creating a simple data-encoding visualization. The bars are drawn as SVG `<rect>` elements with fixed pixel dimensions, while the labels use SVG `<text>` elements. The page relies on plain HTML, CSS for styling (including font size and margin reset), and JavaScript is referenced though not directly used in the visible code. Rendering is handled entirely through inline SVG within the `index.html` file, demonstrating fundamental SVG shape and text placement without external libraries or data sources.

SVG starter

This example demonstrates a minimal SVG-based bar chart with three static rectangles rendered in steelblue, green, and red. The SVG canvas is created by appending an `svg` element to the HTML body via D3's selection API, with a height of 500 and width of 960. Each rectangle is positioned using explicit `x` and `height` attributes, with widths fixed at 50 pixels. A loop then appends additional red rectangles at intervals of 100 pixels, though the loop condition prevents it from executing properly.

Image

This example displays a small group of vertical bars in an SVG element, each a different color and height. The bars are rendered as SVG `<rect>` elements with explicit `x`, `y`, `width`, and `height` attributes, and the SVG `transform` attribute applies `scale(1, -1)` to flip the coordinate system so the bars to appear to grow upward from a baseline. The chart uses inline CSS to set the page title and a large message font, while the data values themselves are hardcoded in the markup.

Pseudo Bar Chart

Four vertical rectangles of varying heights sit on a blank SVG canvas, approximating a bar chart without any axes or labels. The longest bar spans nearly the full height, while the shortest occupies only the bottom quarter. The example uses raw SVG `rect` elements with explicit `x`, `y`, `width`, and `height` attributes, all defined directly in the HTML. No JavaScript libraries or data-binding frameworks are present; the chart is a static, hand-coded approximation of a categorical comparison using only the SVG specification.

Pseudo Horizontal Bar

This example shows four black vertical bars of descending height arranged from left to right across a white canvas, creating a pseudo horizontal bar chart. Each bar uses an SVG `rect` element, with explicit `x`, `y`, `width`, and `height` attributes hard-coded into the markup. The rendering uses static SVG (no animation or interaction) within a simple HTML page, and the overall effect relies on the viewer’s perception of the bars as part of a single horizontal sequence. The chart is purely presentational, with no axis, labels, or data-binding logic.
