This bar chart shows the number of NASCAR race starts each driver needed before achieving their first win, with bars colored by the track where that victory occurred. Hovering over a bar reveals the driver’s name, the specific track, and the start count. Built with Vega-Lite and d3.v5, the visualization loads CSV data from a GitHub Gist and uses a custom color scale with tooltips via vega-tooltip. The chart is configured to filter bars by selected track when integrated into a dashboard.

AI-generated description

This bar chart is an expansion on a previous viz I created which shows the number of starts it took each winner in the dataset to win their first race. While the data is the same, this version incorporates the idea of being able to hover over one of the bars, and get information on that driver's first win. Highlighted data includes the number of starts it took, and the track they won on. The bars are also colored by the track they won on. This data is a rendition of the NASCAR dataset, which contains information on races from 1975 to 2003.

Goal: When added to the dashboard, I would like this viz to filter out the bars pertaining to the selected track (if there are any).
