Fork of Sol LeWitt

This is a generative art reproduction of a Sol LeWitt piece, rendered as a full-window SVG. It displays a grid of horizontal and vertical black bars that are masked into two concentric circular regions. The work uses two SVG masks: the first reveals only the horizontal bars within a central circle, while the second inverts that circle to show vertical bars everywhere else. The code constructs all elements dynamically via the DOM API, without external libraries.

Fork of Sol LeWitt 2

This visualization reproduces a Sol LeWitt wall drawing using D3.js, rendering a grid of horizontal and vertical stripes across the full browser window. Two SVG masks create circular cutouts, with inverted black-and-white fills revealing the stripes only within the central circle while inverting the pattern outside it. The code uses `d3.select`, `d3.range`, and SVG `mask` elements to layer 100 rectangles in each orientation, with the circle radius fixed at 200 pixels regardless of viewport size.

Fork of Fork of Sol LeWitt Reproduction by D3 2

A D3.js reproduction of a Sol LeWitt drawing fills the browser viewport with a grid of horizontal and vertical bars layered on top of each other. Two SVG masks, each containing differently shaped symbols from `d3.symbol` and `symbols`, selectively reveal parts of the grid. The first mask applies a non-inverted pattern, while the second uses an inverted fill, creating a dynamic interplay between the geometric bars and symbol silhouettes. Rendered entirely with SVG elements and styled through CSS, the code uses `select`, `range`, and `join` to generate the repeating bars.

Fork of Full Sol LeWitt Reproduction with D3

A Sol LeWitt-inspired generative drawing fills the browser window with a grid of horizontal and vertical black lines. The piece uses D3 to render two sets of rectangles, each masked by a custom SVG mask. One mask reveals a pattern of geometric symbols—circles, squares, and triangles—while the other inverts the effect, creating a layered, intersecting composition. The masks are built with D3's `symbol` API, and the SVG elements are positioned using `range` and `selectAll` with `join`. The rendering is entirely SVG-based, with the artwork sized to the viewport.

Fork of Fork of Sol LeWitt 3

A generative artwork reproduces Sol LeWitt's geometric style using stacked horizontal and vertical rectangles. The piece displays a grid of thin colored bands that intersect within a circular boundary, creating a woven optical effect. Built with D3.js, the visualization uses SVG masks to reveal the pattern through two complementary circle masks. The code generates 100 rectangles in each orientation, rendered dynamically across the full browser window, showing how systematic repetition and masking can produce intricate visual textures from simple shapes.

Fork of Full Sol LeWitt Reproduction with D3

This visualization recreates a Sol LeWitt wall drawing using D3.js, generating a grid of horizontal and vertical bars that intersect to form a dynamic pattern. The code draws 100 rectangular strips in each direction, using SVG masks to selectively hide portions of the grid with large mathematical symbols. The artwork relies on `d3.range`, `d3.select`, and `d3.symbol` to construct the visual, with the mask system alternating between inverted and non-inverted states to create contrasting regions across the canvas.

Fork of Sol LeWitt vertical again

This example generates a grid of horizontal and vertical bars overlaid with two circular masks, creating a circular portal where the bars are visible and a contrasting ring where the orientation flips. Built with D3.js, it uses `select` and `range` to create 35 rectangles for each axis, positioning them with `attr` calls. The SVG rendering applies `mask` elements with `rect` and `circle` shapes to control visibility. The artwork reinterprets Sol LeWitt’s vertical line concept, using the browser’s `innerWidth` and `innerHeight` for a full-screen composition.

Fork of Fork of Sol LeWitt Reproduction with D3

A generative geometric composition mirrors a Sol LeWitt wall drawing, displaying a grid of horizontal and vertical striped rectangles on an SVG canvas. The primary visual effect is a circular white mask that reveals only the horizontal lines within its radius, while the vertical lines remain fully visible across the entire viewport. Built with D3 v6, the code uses `select`, `range`, and `join` to create 100 rectangles per axis, with `window.innerWidth` and `window.innerHeight` defining the responsive full-screen dimensions.
