Fork of Bowl of Fruit - Animated Transitions

Fork of Bowl of Fruit - Animated Transitions

A fork of the Bowl of Fruit example demonstrates animated transitions for SVG circles. The visualization shows five fruits—red apples and a yellow lemon—arranged in a row, with actions over time removing fruits and changing an apple into a lemon. Each state change triggers a smooth 1000-millisecond transition using D3’s `transition` and `duration` methods, animating circle radius and horizontal position. The code uses `d3.scaleOrdinal` for color and size mapping, and a custom `fruitBowl` function manages data joins with enter, merge, and exit selections.

Five apples appear in a row and enlarge from zero radius; clicking one selects it with a black stroke, while a lemon is added to the bowl using an animated transition. The code uses d3-selection’s data join with a key function, and d3-transition’s `.transition().duration()` to animate circle positions and radii. SVG rendering displays the fruit, with d3-scaleOrdinal mapping fruit types to colors and sizes.

Rows of fruit circles animate between states as apples are eaten and one apple transforms into a lemon. The example demonstrates data joins with a key function, using transitions to smoothly interpolate circle radii and x positions over one second. It builds on the `fruitBowl` module, which applies ordinal color and radius scales, while `setTimeout` triggers state changes every second. Rendering uses SVG circles, with D3 v5's selection, data, and transition APIs driving the animation.

Fork of Bowl of Fruit - Animated Transitions

This example demonstrates animated transitions for a fruit bowl, where apples and lemons appear, disappear, and change type with smooth updates. Five circles initially render as apples; clicking highlights a fruit with a black stroke, while timed updates remove the last apple, convert the third apple to a lemon, and filter out the second fruit. The visualization uses D3 v5 with the `fruitBowl` module, leveraging `selection.data()` with key functions, `transition().duration()` for enter, update, and exit animations, and ordinal scales for color and radius. SVG shapes are bound to data, with mouseover and mouseout events triggering selection changes.

Bowl of Fruit - Animated Transitions

Five circles representing apples render in an SVG bowl. Through timed interactions, one apple disappears, a second apple changes into a lemon, and a third apple is removed, with all changes animated. The code uses D3 v5’s `select`, `selectAll`, `transition` and ordinal `scaleOrdinal` for color and radius. Explicit `attr` tweens over 1000 milliseconds animate the circle positions, radii, and exits, while `remove()` deletes exiting circles.

Bowl of Fruit: Animated Transitions

Five circles representing apples appear in a row, rendered as SVG circles with a red fill. Over two seconds, one fruit is removed and a middle apple transitions to a lemon, changing its color to yellow and shrinking its radius. The example uses d3 v5 with selection joins, `.enter()`, `.exit()`, and scaleOrdinal for color and size mappings, demonstrating basic animated data updates.
