Forked from Bowl of Fruit - General Update Pattern

This example demonstrates animated transitions of a row of circles representing apples and lemons, with items appearing, changing type, and being removed. It uses the D3.js library (v5) with the `scaleOrdinal` color and radius scales to map fruit types to visual properties. Transitions are executed via the `transition` API, animating the `cx` and `r` attributes over one second. The scenario is scripted with `setTimeout` calls that modify an array of fruit objects and re-render the SVG scene.

Bowl of Fruit - Animated Transitions

This example demonstrates animated transitions of fruit items within a bowl using D3.js. The visualization shows apples, lemons, and green apples appearing, disappearing, and changing types over time, with each fruit represented as a circle and label. The code employs D3 v5's `scaleOrdinal` for color and radius mapping, `transition().duration(1000)` for smooth animations, and SVG `g`, `circle`, and `text` elements. The rendering uses SVG with animations triggered by setTimeout calls that modify a fruit array and re-render the scene.

Bowl of Fruit - Animated Transitions

This example demonstrates animated transitions for a data-bound bowl of fruit, showing how elements enter, exit, and update smoothly. It uses D3 v5’s data join with key functions, `transition().duration()`, and ordinal scales for color and radius. The SVG circles represent apples and lemons, with apples being eaten and replaced over time. The code imports `scaleOrdinal` from D3 and executes timed state changes via `setTimeout` to trigger render updates.

Bowl of Fruit - Animated Transitions

This example demonstrates animated transitions for a fruit bowl visualization, where apples and lemons enter, exit, and change type with smooth circular motion. It renders SVG circles using d3.v5, with data bound by a random ID key. The `fruitBowl` function uses `selection.enter`, `merge`, and `exit` to join data, while `transition().duration()` animates the circle radius and x-position. A color scale and radius scale map fruit types to visual properties, driven by timed `setTimeout` calls that modify the fruit array and re-render.

Bowl of Fruit - Animated Transitions

This example demonstrates animated transitions of fruit-shaped circles entering, updating, and exiting an SVG bowl. It shows how circles representing apples and lemons move horizontally and resize smoothly over one-second durations. The visualization uses d3.js v5 with a modular approach, importing `scaleOrdinal` for color and radius mapping, and `select` and `range` for data binding. The `fruitBowl` function manages enter, merge, and exit selections, applying `transition().duration(1000)` to animate both `cx` and `r` attributes. Data consists of five apples initially, with dynamic updates possible through the provided functions.

Bowl of Fruit - Animated Transitions

Circles representing apples animate into a row, then smoothly transition as fruit is eaten or changed. The example demonstrates animated data joins using D3 v5 selections, merging enter and update sets and applying `transition().duration()` to shift positions and radii. A time-driven script mutates the fruit array, swapping an apple for a lemon and filtering out elements, while exit transitions shrink circles to zero before removal. The SVG rendering uses ordinal scales for color and radius, keyed by unique fruit IDs.

Bowl of Fruit - Animated Transitions

A bowl of fruit demonstrates animated transitions as apples and lemons are added, removed, and swapped. The visualization uses D3's `scaleOrdinal` for color and radius mapping, `transition` with a 1000-millisecond duration for smooth changes, and `enter`, `merge`, and `exit` selections to handle data updates over time. The SVG circles are positioned horizontally, and the sequential timers trigger state changes.

Bowl of Fruit - Animated Transitions

A bowl of fruit demonstrates animated transitions in D3.js v5, showing how SVG circles representing apples and lemons enter, update, and exit smoothly over a one-second duration. Users can click a fruit to select it, which adds a black outline stroke. The code defines a custom `fruitBowl` module using `d3.scaleOrdinal` for color and radius scales, applies `selection.merge()` to coordinate enter and update, and triggers transitions via `transition().duration(1000)` on position, radius, and exit removal. The example also uses `setTimeout` to sequentially eat and replace fruit, updating bound data arrays.

Bowl of Fruit - Animated Transitions

A series of fruit-shaped circles animates through add, remove, and type-change transitions as apples are eaten and replaced by lemons. The visualization uses D3 v5’s data join with key functions and `transition().duration()` to morph circle radii and positions over one-second intervals. SVG rendering relies on ordinal scales for color and radius, while `Math.random()` generates unique fruit IDs to track elements across state updates. The code imports `scaleOrdinal`, `select`, and `range` from D3 modules to orchestrate the enter, update, and exit selections.
