A grid of thin horizontal and vertical rectangles creates a classic Sol LeWitt-style geometric composition. The piece shows a bold black-and-white striped field, but a circular mask in the center reveals the underlying pattern by clipping the horizontal lines. Using the SVG DOM API, the code creates 100 horizontal and vertical bars, with a masked circle defining the visible area. The rendering relies on native SVG elements and mask functionality, producing a crisp, minimalist study of repetition and negative space.

Sol LeWitt Reproduction Vertical

This example reproduces a Sol LeWitt-style geometric composition as a vertical grid of alternating vertical and horizontal stripes. It shows a structured visual pattern where two circular masks define regions of overlap, creating a cross-shaped interplay of lines. The rendering uses plain SVG elements—`rect` and `circle`—with two custom masks (`circle-mask` and `circle-mask-2`) to control which stripes appear in each area. The code dynamically generates 100 vertical and 100 horizontal rectangles, each styled with a distinct mask, to achieve the final layered effect. No external libraries are used; the visualization relies solely on native SVG and JavaScript.

Sol LeWitt Reproduction Vertical

This example reproduces a Sol LeWitt-style vertical composition, displaying 100 horizontal stripes that are visible only within a circular region at the center of the screen. The piece shows how a simple geometric pattern can be masked to create a focused, minimalist art aesthetic. The code uses the SVG DOM API via `document.createElementNS` to construct elements directly, with a `<mask>` element and a white `<circle>` defining the visible area. Black `<rect>` elements of varying heights are generated in a loop and apply the mask using the `url(#circle-mask)` attribute, all rendered across the full browser viewport.

Sol LeWitt Reproduction Vertical

This example reproduces Sol LeWitt’s geometric wall drawing style by generating a grid of horizontal and vertical black stripes on a white background. A circular mask in the center of the SVG reveals only the stripes inside the circle, while a second inverted mask applies to the vertical lines, creating a layered crosshatch effect. The code uses raw SVG elements created via the DOM API (`document.createElementNS`), with two mask definitions (`<mask>` and `<mask2>`) to control visibility. The rendering is entirely procedural, with 100 rectangles in each direction, and no external data source or library beyond vanilla JavaScript and SVG.

Sol LeWitt Reproduction 2

This reproduction of a Sol LeWitt artwork uses an SVG generated entirely through the Document Object Model (DOM) API. It shows a grid of horizontal and vertical stripes that are selectively revealed through two circular masks centered on the canvas. The first mask applies a black circle to create a cutout in the horizontal stripes, while the second uses a white circle to overlay vertical stripes in the same region. The code builds elements dynamically, setting width and height to the full viewport, and employs the `createElementNS` method to construct SVG nodes for masks, rectangles, and circles.

Sol LeWitt Reproduction Mask

This visualization reproduces a Sol LeWitt art piece using a simple SVG mask to create a circular viewing window. It shows a series of horizontal black-and-white striped bars filling the entire screen, stopped by a central circular hole that reveals the full rectangle. The code builds an SVG via DOM manipulation, defines a mask containing a white rectangle and black circle, then appends 100 thin rect elements with the mask applied to create the striped pattern. The rendering relies on core SVG APIs and no external libraries.

Sol LeWitt Reproduction Inverse

This interactive SVG reproduction of a Sol LeWitt wall drawing layers horizontal and vertical striped rectangles, creating a grid-like pattern that is revealed through two circular masks. The first mask uses a black background with a white circle to show only the horizontal bands inside the circle, while the second inverts this with a white background and black circle to display the vertical bands outside it. The code builds the entire composition dynamically via the DOM API, creating 100 striped rectangles per direction and applying the masks with `url(#circle-mask)` and `url(#circle-mask-2)`. The piece renders full-window, adapting to the viewport dimensions.

Sol LeWitt Reproduction vertical

This is a generative SVG reproduction of Sol LeWitt’s wall drawing, shown vertically across the full browser viewport. A circular mask, defined via SVG `<mask>` and a white circle, reveals only the central region of a grid of 100 horizontal and 100 vertical black rects. The horizontal rects are layered beneath the vertical ones and clipped by the mask, creating a contrasting circular window. The piece uses raw JavaScript DOM manipulation with `document.createElementNS` to build the SVG elements dynamically, with no external libraries.

Sol LeWitt Reproduction

This example reproduces a Sol LeWitt drawing by assembling a grid of horizontal and vertical stripes that intersect to form a circular void at the center. The piece renders 100 horizontal rectangles masked by a black circle, while a second set of 100 vertical rectangles uses an inverted mask with a white circle, creating a complementary pattern of visible lines. Built with the HTML DOM and SVG APIs, the visualization constructs elements directly via JavaScript, using `createElementNS`, `setAttribute`, and SVG mask definitions to achieve the geometric composition. The result is a computational homage to LeWitt's conceptual art, where simple algorithmic rules generate complex visual interplay.
