NASCAR Car Maker Finishes, Frequency- Filter WIP
This scatterplot shows NASCAR car makes and their race finishes from 1975–2003, with circle size encoding the frequency of each finish count for a given make. Using vega-lite-api and d3.v5, it loads external CSV data and renders points with a tooltip detailing finish value and count. The markup includes commented filter and color encodings for future track selection, and the visualization is built through Vega-Lite’s markPoint and encoded size, x, y, and tooltip channels.
AI-generated descriptionThis scatterplot shows the various car makes that have run NASCAR races, and their finishes. The circles are sized by the count for easy comparison. Some makes, obviously, have found more success than others. A tooltip shows the finish and a count of instances of that finish for that make. The data used in this visualization is derived from a dataset which contains information on every NASCAR race run from 1975 to 2003.
Goal: When this viz is added to the dashboard, selecting a track will filter this viz for that track, so the viewer can see how well the different makes have done at a specific track. When selected, the dots will change color to match that track's color in other visualizations.
