Bowl of Fruit

Bowl of Fruit: Animated Transitions

A bowl of fruit demonstrates animated transitions as apples disappear and one transforms into a lemon over time. The visualization uses D3 v5 with an SVG rendering approach, employing scaleOrdinal for color and radius mappings. The fruitBowl function manages the enter, update, and exit states of grouped circles and text labels, while the index script uses setTimeout to trigger sequential data modifications.

Bowl of Fruit - Animated Transitions

A series of fruit-shaped circles animates through add, remove, and type-change transitions as apples are eaten and replaced by lemons. The visualization uses D3 v5’s data join with key functions and `transition().duration()` to morph circle radii and positions over one-second intervals. SVG rendering relies on ordinal scales for color and radius, while `Math.random()` generates unique fruit IDs to track elements across state updates. The code imports `scaleOrdinal`, `select`, and `range` from D3 modules to orchestrate the enter, update, and exit selections.

Bowl of Fruit - Animated Transitions

A bowl of fruit demonstrates animated transitions as apples and lemons are added, removed, and swapped. The visualization uses D3's `scaleOrdinal` for color and radius mapping, `transition` with a 1000-millisecond duration for smooth changes, and `enter`, `merge`, and `exit` selections to handle data updates over time. The SVG circles are positioned horizontally, and the sequential timers trigger state changes.

Bowl of Fruit - Animated Transitions

Circles representing apples animate into a row, then smoothly transition as fruit is eaten or changed. The example demonstrates animated data joins using D3 v5 selections, merging enter and update sets and applying `transition().duration()` to shift positions and radii. A time-driven script mutates the fruit array, swapping an apple for a lemon and filtering out elements, while exit transitions shrink circles to zero before removal. The SVG rendering uses ordinal scales for color and radius, keyed by unique fruit IDs.

Bowl of fruit - animated transitions

A row of apples and one lemon sit atop an SVG bowl, with each fruit drawn as a colored circle. The example demonstrates animated transitions as fruits are eaten or replaced: exiting circles shrink to zero radius, while new or changed fruits grow to their target size with color and radius updates. It uses D3 v5's data join, `transition().duration(1000)`, and ordinal scales for color and radius, with `Math.random()` generating fruit IDs.

A bowl of fruit demonstrates animated transitions in D3. The visualization shows five apples rendered as red circles, with one apple turning into a lemon over time and two apples disappearing. The code uses D3 v5's data join, `scaleOrdinal` for color and radius mapping, and `selection.transition` to animate circle radius changes. SVG circles are bound to fruit objects with unique IDs, and exit transitions shrink shapes to zero before removal.

Bowl of Fruit - Animated Transitions

A bowl of fruit demonstrates animated transitions between data states, showing how circles representing apples and lemons appear, move, and disappear. Using D3 v6 with SVG and React, the visualization employs keyed data joins to track fruit identity. The `fruitBowl` function uses `scaleOrdinal` for color and radius, while `transition().duration(1000)` animates position and size changes on enter, update, and exit selections over timed intervals.

Bowl of Fruit - Animated Transitions

Five circles representing apples and lemons transition smoothly in a bowl-shaped arrangement, shrinking and disappearing when eaten or expanding when added. Using D3 v5 with SVG, the `fruitBowl` function binds data by ID and applies `transition().duration(1000)` to animate radius and x-position, with `scaleOrdinal` determining color and size. Data updates occur via `setTimeout` calls that mutate the fruit array.
