Fork of Cars Scatter Plot

A scatter plot of cars visualizing the relationship between horsepower and weight, with each car represented as a red semi-transparent circle. The data comes from the UCI Machine Learning Repository Auto MPG dataset, loaded via `d3.csv`. The visualization uses `d3.scaleLinear` for both axes, `d3.axisBottom` and `d3.axisLeft` for ticks, and `svg.append('circle')` to render points. Axis labels and a title are added using SVG text elements.

Cars' Scatter Plot

This visualization displays the top 10 most populous countries using a bar chart, with population values from the 2018 United Nations World Population Prospects estimate. It is rendered as SVG elements via D3 v5, using `scaleLinear` for the x-axis and `scalePoint` for the categorical y-axis. The code customizes axes with `axisBottom` and `axisLeft`, applies tick formatting with `d3.format`, and includes grid lines and labels. Data is loaded asynchronously from a CSV file using `d3.csv`.

Making a bar chart

This example shows a horizontal bar chart of the ten most populous countries, with bar widths proportional to each nation’s population (displayed in thousands). The visualization is built with D3 v5, using `scaleLinear` for the x-axis and `scaleBand` for the y-axis, rendering rectangles as SVG elements. Data is loaded from a CSV file via `d3.csv`, with population values parsed and multiplied by 1000 before the chart is drawn.

Making a Bar Chart

This example demonstrates how to build a bar chart from CSV data using D3.js. The chart displays country populations for ten nations, with China and India leading, and renders as SVG rectangles. The code uses D3’s `select` and `csv` methods to load `data.csv` and the `svg.attr` method to read the SVG’s dimensions. Though the current implementation logs the parsed data to the console, the core structure shows the initial steps of binding data to DOM elements in preparation for visual encoding.

Shapes with SVG and CSS

This example demonstrates basic geometric shapes rendered with SVG, including two circles and a red rectangle. The circles are grouped using an SVG `<g>` transform to shift them horizontally, while the rectangle is positioned independently. Styling is handled through an external CSS file, which sets the page margin to zero and hides overflow. The visualization uses raw SVG elements within an HTML document, with a green color class defined for potential highlighting, though no dynamic behavior is shown.

Fork of Hello VizHub

This example demonstrates how to import local ES6 modules alongside D3 loaded from a CDN, with D3 v5 fetched from UNPKG. The page renders a large text element whose content is set by the bundled JavaScript, while CSS is imported from a local stylesheet. The code uses the global `d3` object to manipulate the DOM and assign the message, and the `script` tag loads a prebuilt `bundle.js` file. The visualization focuses on module loading and basic DOM updates rather than data-driven rendering.

Fork of D3 Starter

This example displays the text “Hello D3 version 7” centered on a blank page, serving as a minimal starter template. It uses D3 v7’s `select` function to target the body element and set its text content. The HTML file defines the page styling with a large font size and loads the D3 library from a CDN. The JavaScript code, imported from a separate `index.js` file, demonstrates the basic pattern of D3 selection and manipulation.
