Radar Chart

This radar chart displays six fictional dimensions—hp, attack, sp_attack, defense, sp_defense, and speed—on circular axes, with population data from a CSV file (though the chart’s data values appear hardcoded as [25, 35]). The visualization uses D3 v5 with SVG rendering, drawing concentric grid circles via scaleLinear, radial lines and labels for each dimension, and a lineRadial generator for the data paths. It includes color-coded strokes and an unused spiral generator.

Let's make a face with D3.js!

A smiling face built with SVG shapes animates as its rectangular eyebrows rise and fall in a looping two-second cycle. The example demonstrates core D3.js v5 DOM manipulation, using d3-selection methods like `select`, `append`, and `attr` to construct the face, and `transition` with a duration to move the eyebrow group. Rendered at 960 by 500 pixels, the face centers itself and draws a yellow circle, eyes, and an arc-based mouth using d3-shape's `arc`.

Let's make a bar chart

This bar chart displays population estimates for the ten most populous countries, using horizontal bars ordered alphabetically by country name. The visualization loads data from a CSV file and renders SVG rectangles scaled by population magnitude. Built with D3 v5, the code uses `d3.csv`, `scaleBand`, `scaleLinear`, `axisLeft`, and `axisBottom` to construct the chart with labeled axes and steel-blue bars. Margins, a custom inner plotting area, and a 0.1 band padding define the layout.

Customizing Axes

This bar chart shows the population of the top 10 most populous countries using 2018 estimates from the United Nations World Population Prospects. The example highlights how to customize D3 axes, including rotated tick labels, formatted tick values (e.g., converting billions to “B”), and grid lines with reduced opacity. It uses `d3.scaleBand` for the categorical country axis and `d3.scaleLinear` with `d3.axisBottom` and `d3.axisLeft` for the population scale. Data is loaded from a CSV file and rendered as SVG rectangles within a fixed margin layout.

Customizing Axes

This example displays a bar chart of the top 10 most populous countries using 2018 population estimates from the United Nations World Population Prospects 2017, with data loaded via d3.csv. It shows how to customize D3 axes: the y-axis uses d3.axisLeft with its domain and tick lines removed, while the x-axis uses d3.axisBottom with a custom tick format that converts values from billions to a readable "B" suffix and extends tick lines across the chart. The code employs d3.scaleLinear and d3.scaleBand to map data to SVG rectangles, with styling for tick text, labels, and titles defined in CSS.
