Fork of Pathetic Bar Chart
This example visualizes the top 10 most populous countries as a bar chart with no axes, intentionally rendered as a "pathetic" chart lacking scales or labels. It uses React to manage state and render SVG rectangles, with D3 v5’s `csv`, `scaleBand`, and `scaleLinear` to load and scale the population data from the United Nations World Population Prospects 2019 dataset. The bar widths represent each country’s 2020 population, while the y-axis positioning uses a band scale for country names. The chart appears after a brief loading state, displaying only colored rectangles without any reference lines or tick marks.
