ABBA Word Cloud

This interactive word cloud visualizes lyrics from ABBA songs, with word size indicating frequency and color applied via a categorical scale. It uses the d3.layout.cloud plugin to compute the layout, then renders SVG text elements with Impact font, random 90-degree rotations, and animated transitions for entering and exiting words based on the provided data array. The visualization updates asynchronously when new word sets are passed to the update method.

This interactive word cloud visualizes repeating phrases from a COVID-19 care guide, using the d3.layout.cloud API to position words in a circular layout. The animation shows words entering, updating, and exiting via D3 v3 transitions that adjust font size, rotation, and fill opacity. Each word is rendered as an SVG text element with Impact font and category20 color scale, with random 0 or 90 degree rotations. The visualization uses sample text data embedded in the script, demonstrating a reusable module pattern for updating word clouds.

This example shows an interactive word cloud built from COVID-19 care instructions using the `d3.layout.cloud` layout. The visualization displays the frequency of words through font size, with each word colored by a category20 scale and rotated randomly by 90-degree increments. Words transition smoothly into place via `transition.attrTween`-style updates, while exiting words shrink and disappear. The code uses the D3.js v3 library and SVG rendering, drawing text elements in a 500x500 pixel space with Impact font.

This example presents a word cloud visualization that displays COVID-19 public health guidance text. The words are sized by frequency, while a d3.layout.cloud layout arranges them in a circular, randomized rotation pattern. Rendered as animated SVG text elements, the visualization uses D3 v3 transitions to grow entering words and shrink exiting ones. Each word is colored via a d3.scale.category20 palette, with the data sourced from the Data Canvas Sense Your City Dataset.
