S'Army

S'Army presents a choropleth map of COVID-19 cases across the United States and Canada, using population data as a proxy for infection rates. The visualization offers interactive controls for switching between provinces/states and census divisions/counties, and for toggling between proportional and classed circle scaling. Built with D3 v5, it uses `d3.geoStereographic` for projection, `d3.geoPath` for rendering geographic boundaries, and `d3.scaleThreshold` for the classed legend, with circle radii styled after the Johns Hopkins COVID map.

S'Army

S'Army draws an unclassed and classed proportional-symbol map of simulated COVID-19 infection counts across North America, using `d3.geoPath` with a stereographic projection for the base map and `d3.scaleSqrt` for proportional symbol sizing. Circles are placed at the centroids of Canadian census divisions and U.S. counties, with populations from the 2016 Canadian Census and the 2019 U.S. Census Bureau estimates. The visualization uses `d3.scaleThreshold` for a classed legend copied from the Johns Hopkins map, and readers can toggle between provinces/census divisions, states/counties, and proportional/classed scaling.

This example presents a minimal web page titled “S’Army,” serving as a basic demonstration of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript integration. The page displays the text “Hello HTML” in a 13em font, centered on the screen, while the embedded script logs “Hello JavaScript!” to the browser’s console. The code uses the D3.js library (d3.v6) via a CDN link, but no visualization functions are invoked, making it a static skeleton ready for further development, likely as a starter template for future D3 projects.
