Distribution of ROD due to Cerebrovascular Diseases in the USA from 1999-2017

This interactive visualization explores the distribution of age-adjusted death rates due to cerebrovascular diseases (stroke) across US states from 1999 to 2017. It displays a histogram with adjustable bins via a slider, alongside a scatter plot and a bar chart, all built with the p5.js library. The data is loaded from a CSV file hosted on GitHub Gist. State abbreviations are used to reduce label overlap, and each state is assigned a distinct random color for visual differentiation.

Distribution of ROD due to Cerebrovascular Diseases in the USA from 1999-2017

This interactive visualization displays the distribution of age-adjusted death rates due to cerebrovascular diseases (stroke) across U.S. states from 1999 to 2017, using a p5.js sketch. It includes a histogram that depicts the frequency of death rates for a selected year, controlled by a slider, alongside a scatter plot showing each state’s rate over time. The code loads data from a CSV via `loadTable`, filters it to exclude national and D.C. entries, and uses p5.js’s `min`, `max`, and color functions to compute bins and assign random state colors for visual distinction.

Distribution of ROD of Cerebrovascular Diseases in the USA from 1999 - 2017

A histogram displays the distribution of age-adjusted death rates from cerebrovascular diseases (stroke) across U.S. states for a selected year, using an interactive slider to filter from 1999 to 2017. The visualization highlights state-specific data points along with a bar chart of rate frequencies, where each state is assigned a random color. Built with p5.js, the sketch loads data from a CSV file via `loadTable` and uses custom binning logic to compute histogram counts and scales. The view includes a title, subtitle, and axes, with the bar width dynamically calculated based on the number of bins.

Cause of Death

This visualization presents stroke-related mortality across U.S. states from 1999 to 2017, combining a bar chart of 2017 death counts with a dot plot showing age-adjusted death rates over time. The p5.js sketch loads data from a CSV file via a GitHub gist, assigns random colors to each state, and renders multiple coordinated views on a single canvas. It uses p5.js functions like `loadTable`, `map`, and `rect` to draw the graphics, with a dotted notebook aesthetic and interactive link to Vizhub.

snowman

A p5.js sketch draws a simple snowman from three stacked circles on a dark gray canvas. Two small black circles form the eyes, an orange triangle serves as the nose, and an arc creates a smile. The text "dO yOu wAnNa bUilD a sNowMan" appears in the upper right. The drawing is rendered procedurally each frame in the `draw()` function using p5.js shape APIs like `circle()`, `triangle()`, `arc()`, and `text()`.
