Customize Axes

This visualization displays population data for ten countries as a horizontal bar chart, with a customized axis appearance. It uses D3 v5 to load data from a CSV file and render SVG elements. The code applies `scaleLinear` and `scaleBand` for positioning, while `axisLeft` and `axisBottom` generate the axes. The x-axis uses `tickFormat` with `.3s` notation to abbreviate population values, and the chart appears without axis labels or gridlines.

BarChart

This bar chart displays population figures for ten countries, using horizontal bars with a linear scale for population and a band scale for country names. The visualization renders in SVG using D3 v5, importing methods like `scaleLinear`, `scaleBand`, `axisLeft`, and `axisBottom` to construct the axes. Data comes from a CSV file where population values are multiplied by 1000 after parsing. Steelblue rectangles represent each country’s population, with margins and padding applied to the chart layout.

Responding to Resize

This example demonstrates how a D3.js visualization can automatically adapt to its container size. A green X-shaped set of lines is drawn inside an SVG, and the entire graphic redraws whenever the browser window is resized. The code uses a fixed-position `#chart` div that fills the page, with `clientWidth` and `clientHeight` extracting the computed dimensions. Those values then set the SVG’s `width` and `height` attributes, and the lines are repositioned via a `redraw` function wired to the window’s `resize` event. The rendering uses SVG elements and D3’s data join pattern.
