Fork of Temperature in San Francisco Line Chart

This line chart visualizes one week of temperature data in San Francisco, sourced from Data Canvas - Sense Your City, with time on the x-axis and degrees Celsius on the y-axis. The visualization uses d3.csv to load the data, d3.scaleTime and d3.scaleLinear for scaling, d3.axisBottom and d3.axisLeft for axes, and a d3.line generator with d3.curveBasis to draw the smooth maroon temperature line. The SVG rendering includes a title, axis labels, and a grid formed by tick lines.

Fork of Loading Data with React & D3

This example demonstrates how React manages asynchronous data loading with D3 utilities. It fetches a CSV file containing CSS named colors from a GitHub gist using D3’s `json` function, storing the result in React state via `useState` and `useEffect`. While the data loads, it displays “Loading...”, then renders a pre-formatted summary of the dataset, including its size in kilobytes, row count, and column count, using `d3.csvFormat` and the imported `message` helper. The visualization focuses on the integration of D3’s data-handling APIs with React’s component lifecycle.

Fork of Stylized Scatter Plot

This example visualizes the classic Iris dataset, plotting petal length against sepal width in a scatter plot. The rendering uses React components to generate SVG elements, with each data point drawn as a circle. D3’s `scaleLinear` and `extent` functions compute the axes, while `format` handles tick labels. Grid lines and axis labels are styled via CSS classes, and hover tooltips appear using the native SVG `<title>` element.

Fork of React + D3 Viz Starter

This example demonstrates a minimal React + D3 starter template that renders an empty SVG visualization with visible margin areas. The code uses CDN-loaded React 16, ReactDOM, and d3.v6 to construct a reusable `VizContainer` component that abstracts SVG group elements and follows the standard margin convention. It passes explicit `width`, `height`, and `margin` props to draw light-gray outer and inner rectangles, which can be hidden by removing the `showMargins` prop. The visualization currently shows only the container scaffolding, ready for D3 visual elements.
