Making a Bar Chart

This example shows a bar chart of the top 10 most populous countries using 2018 population estimates from the United Nations World Population Prospects. The visualization uses D3 v5 to load CSV data, scale linearly for the x-axis population values, and scale band for the y-axis country categories. The SVG rendering includes axis labels via axisBottom and axisLeft, with rectangular bars filled in steelblue. Data preprocessing multiplies the population values by 1000 to reflect actual counts.

Barchart

A horizontal bar chart displays population estimates for the ten most populous countries, with values scaled in thousands and bars ordered by descending population. The visualization uses D3 v5, loading data from a CSV and rendering to SVG with `scaleLinear` for the x-axis, `scaleBand` for the categorical y-axis, and `axisLeft`/`axisBottom` for ticks. Bars are drawn as `rect` elements, filled with steelblue, within left and top margins.
