This visualization maps the reported fall locations of meteorites using longitude and latitude coordinates. Without a geographic backdrop, the dense clustering of points reveals continent outlines, with notable concentrations across the USA, Europe, and India, and coastal-heavy landings in Africa. The data, sourced from a CSV file, is rendered as circles using Vega-Lite’s markCircle encoding, with latitude and longitude mapped through the vl.longitude and vl.latitude APIs. The visualization is built with d3, Vega-Lite, and the Vega-Lite API, which handle data loading via d3.csv and tooltip display of the fall year.
