Smoothed D3.js Radar Chart

Three fictional smartphone brands—iPhone, Samsung, and Nokia—are compared across eight attributes such as battery life, brand, and price using a smoothed radar chart. The chart renders as an SVG with animated, rounded strokes and semi-transparent filled areas, and includes a glow filter, circular grid, and percentage labels. Built with D3.js v3, it uses ordinal color scaling and a custom radar chart function that applies cardinal-closed interpolation for the smoothed lines.

Summarizing Coronavirus Data

This example summarizes the global death toll from the John Hopkins Coronavirus Dataset by displaying a single large number and the latest date in the data. It loads the CSV time-series file, maps the final date column to numeric values, and reduces them with a sum accumulator. The result is formatted with d3.format and rendered into a `<pre>` element. The visualization uses D3 v5’s `d3.csv` for parsing and the `format` function from the d3 library for comma-separated output.

Loading and Parsing Coronavirus Data

This example loads the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus global deaths time-series dataset and displays basic file statistics: the approximate size in kilobytes, the number of rows, and the number of columns. It retrieves the CSV from a GitHub raw URL using `d3.csv` and the Promise-based `.then` method, then formats the data with `d3.csvFormat` to compute its length. The resulting message is rendered into a large `<pre>` element using standard DOM selection. The code demonstrates parsing and summarizing a tabular dataset with D3 v5.
