The React app renders SVG through d3.scaleBand for the y-axis and d3.scaleLinear for the x-axis, with custom AxisBottom and AxisLeft components. The code employs d3.csv for data loading, d3.max for domain calculation, and d3.format to abbreviate large numbers into billions. Each bar includes a native SVG title tooltip showing the exact population value.
