An empty SVG canvas fills the viewport with a solid red background, defined by setting the SVG’s style attribute in the main JavaScript file. The example uses D3 v5 to select the SVG element and apply the background color, while the HTML loads the D3 library from a CDN and links an external stylesheet that removes page margins and hides overflow. No data is loaded or visualized beyond the static colored rectangle.
