A bar chart displays the top 12 countries by 2020 population, using horizontal rectangles sized by population values. React manages the component state and rendering, while D3 utilities load the CSV data and construct the scales: `scaleBand` positions countries along the y-axis and `scaleLinear` maps population to rectangle widths. The chart renders as an SVG inside a React root element, with data fetched asynchronously and displayed after loading. Population values are parsed from the source CSV, and the top 12 rows are selected for visualization.
