This area chart visualizes global population growth over time, with a maroon filled region beneath a smooth curve and labeled axes. The visualization maps years to the x-axis and population to the y-axis, using data from a CSV file. Built with D3 v5, it employs `scaleTime` and `scaleLinear` for scales, `area` with `curveBasis` to generate the path, and `axisBottom` and `axisLeft` for axes. Population values are formatted with `format('.1s')` to display billions.

Customizing Axes

This example visualizes the relationship between horsepower and weight for cars from the UCI Machine Learning Repository. The scatterplot uses red, semi-transparent circles to show data points, with customized axes featuring tick lines that extend across the entire chart and removed domain lines. The code uses d3.scaleLinear, d3.axisLeft, and d3.axisBottom to construct the scales and axes, while labels for both axes and the title are added as SVG text elements.

Customizing Axes

A bar chart displays the top ten most populous countries, with population values on a linear scale and country names on a point scale. Customized axes show gridlines extending across the plot, remove the default domain lines, and format population numbers using `format('.3s')` to abbreviate values like billions. The chart uses d3.scaleLinear, d3.scalePoint, d3.axisBottom, and d3.axisLeft in SVG. Data comes from a CSV file, processed with d3.csv, and rendered with circles instead of bars.

Hello VizHub!

This example displays a large "Hello VizHub!" message in bold, centered text against a dark background, using the Ubuntu font. It demonstrates a minimal D3.js setup where the message is set dynamically by selecting a DOM element with `d3.select`. The code also imports a local ES6 module and initiates a `d3.csv` request to load a dataset from VizHub, logging the parsed data to the console. The page structure is defined in `index.html` with a separate stylesheet for styling.

Cars Report

This example displays the make of the first car in a hardcoded JSON dataset, rendering “Honda” in large, centered text on a dark background. It showcases a minimal setup where an ES6 module exports parsed car data, and the main script updates the DOM element’s text content directly. The page uses plain JavaScript with a custom stylesheet for typography, demonstrating a simple data-to-display pipeline without external visualization libraries.
