Stylized Bar Chart

This stylized bar chart displays the ten most populous countries using data from the United Nations World Population Prospects 2019. The visualization ranks each nation horizontally by population, with a teal fill color and custom Poppins typography. Built with React and D3 v5, it uses `scaleBand` for the categorical y-axis and `scaleLinear` for the numeric x-axis, rendering SVG rectangles through a custom `Marks` component. The chart includes formatted axis ticks that abbreviate large numbers (e.g., "1.4B") and provides tooltips on hover via SVG `<title>` elements.

Temperature in San Francisco Line Chart

This line chart visualizes one week of temperature data in San Francisco, plotting temperature in degrees Celsius against time. The line is drawn with a smooth curve using d3.line() with curveBasis, while d3.scaleTime() and d3.scaleLinear() map the timestamp and temperature values to the SVG canvas. Axes are generated via d3.axisBottom() and d3.axisLeft(), with gridlines created through tick sizes. The data originates from the Data Canvas - Sense Your City project and is loaded as a CSV file using d3.csv, with all rendering handled through SVG elements.

Making a Bar Chart

A horizontal bar chart displays population data for ten countries, from China to Mexico, using a linear scale for population counts and a band scale for country names. The visualization includes axes generated with d3.axisLeft and d3.axisBottom, with margins applied to the SVG rendering. Data is loaded from a CSV file using d3.csv, and the population values are parsed and multiplied by 1,000 before being drawn as SVG rectangles with d3.scaleLinear and d3.scaleBand.

Hello HTML

This example shows a simple, friendly face rendered as an SVG using React and D3. It draws a yellow circle as the face, two black circles for eyes, and a curved mouth path. The code defines a reusable `BackgroundCircle` component and uses `d3.arc()` to generate the mouth’s path with specified inner and outer radii and start/end angles. All shapes are positioned relative to a central transform, with dimensions and offsets defined as constants. The visualization demonstrates basic component composition and D3 shape generation within a React app.
