Loading and Parsing CSV Data

This example demonstrates how to load and parse CSV data from a remote URL using the browser's native `fetch` API and the `text()` method, logging the parsed response to the console. The code fetches a CSV file containing CSS named colors from a GitHub gist, then chains promises to retrieve the raw text. It illustrates the foundational step of data ingestion without any visualization or rendering, focusing solely on asynchronous data loading in a plain HTML and JavaScript environment.

Smiley Face Part 1

This example renders a grid of 18 procedurally generated smiley faces using React and SVG, with each face composed of reusable components for the background circle, eyes, mouth, and nose. The faces vary in stroke width, eye placement, eye radius, and mouth and nose dimensions, driven by random values. The mouth and nose shapes are drawn using d3’s `arc` function to create annular segments with specified start and end angles. The SVG output is produced via React components, with the overall layout determined by a `range` call from d3.

Fork of React & D3 Starter

This React and D3 starter visualizes the classic Iris dataset as a scatter plot, mapping sepal length to the x-axis and petal length to the y-axis with semi-transparent circles. The code demonstrates a decoupled integration pattern, where React manages the component lifecycle in `App.js` and `VizWrapper.js`, while D3 handles rendering through `d3.select`, `scaleLinear`, `extent`, and `axisLeft`/`axisBottom` in `viz.js` and `axes.js`. Data is loaded asynchronously via `d3.csv` in `useData.js`, and the SVG output fills the viewport. This example serves as a scalable template for projects expecting growing complexity.
