Dropdown

This scatter plot visualizes car data from the UCI Auto MPG dataset, mapping horsepower on the x-axis and weight on the y-axis with red circles. A dropdown menu, built with a custom `dropdownMenu` function, allows users to select between two options, though it does not currently affect the displayed data. The visualization uses d3.csv to load data, d3.scaleLinear for axes, and d3.axisLeft and d3.axisBottom to render the SVG chart with gridlines and labels.

This example shows a minimal D3 setup that renders the text “Hello D3 version 7” centered on a blank page. The page loads D3 v7 from a CDN and then, using the `select` function, targets the body element to set its text content. It demonstrates the basic pattern of importing a D3 module and applying a simple DOM update, serving as a starting point for beginners exploring D3 version 6 or 7. The code relies on the `d3.select` API for element selection and text insertion.
