The layout uses `d3.tree()` to compute node positions and `d3.linkHorizontal()` to draw the connecting paths between parent and child nodes, rendered as SVG paths. Country and region names appear as text labels sized according to their depth in the hierarchy. The data comes from a local JSON file, and the visualization includes zoom functionality via `d3.zoom` for exploring the full tree structure.
