Fork of Fork of Mouse Follower

A single yellow circle follows the mouse cursor across an SVG canvas, updating its position based on pointer movement. Built with React and D3 v5, the app tracks clientX and clientY coordinates in a stateful component and re-renders the circle's cx and cy attributes accordingly. The rendering approach uses a simple SVG circle element with no additional data source.

Fork of Mouse Follower

A circle follows the mouse cursor within an SVG canvas, responding to every movement by updating its center coordinates. This example uses React’s `useState` to track the pointer position and D3’s `arc` (though not directly applied), with the SVG’s `onMouseMove` event triggering a state update that repositions the circle. The visualization runs inside an HTML page that imports React and D3 via CDN, rendering through `ReactDOM.render`.

Mouse Follower

A yellow circle tracks the mouse's position across an SVG canvas. The visualization uses React's useState hook to store and update mouse coordinates, which are captured through the SVG's onMouseMove event handler. D3's arc function is imported but the circle is drawn using standard SVG elements, with React rendering the scene at a fixed 960 by 500 pixel resolution.

Fork of Smiley Face Part III

This example renders a yellow smiley face as an SVG graphic, centered on a 960 by 500 canvas. The face is composed of an SVG circle for the head, two smaller circles for the eyes, and a D3 arc path for the mouth, all positioned using D3’s `arc` generator with specified inner and outer radii and angular spans. The code uses React to build the SVG element tree and D3 to compute the mouth’s path data, with styling applied directly via SVG attributes and CSS to remove page margins.

Smiley Face Part III

This example renders a classic smiley face using React to define SVG elements and D3’s `arc` generator to create the mouth. The face is centered on a 960×500 canvas, drawn with yellow and black circles for the head and eyes, while the arc function specifies the mouth’s inner and outer radii along with its start and end angles. The code demonstrates how to combine React’s declarative JSX with D3 shape generators, using inline style rules to remove page margins for a clean, full-viewport presentation.

Fork of Loading and Parsing CSV Data

This example demonstrates how to fetch and read a CSV file from a remote URL using the Fetch API. It loads a dataset of CSS named colors from a GitHub gist, asynchronously retrieves the text via `fetchText`, and then prints the raw CSV contents to the browser console. The code highlights the basic workflow of retrieving external data for later visualization, though no chart or graphical rendering is present. The implementation relies solely on JavaScript’s built-in `fetch` and `response.text()` methods.

Loading and Parsing CSV Data

This example demonstrates loading and parsing CSV data from a remote URL, displaying the raw text output in the browser console. It uses the Fetch API’s `fetch()` method to retrieve the file from a GitHub Gist, then calls `response.text()` to convert the response into a string. The code defines an asynchronous helper function, `fetchText`, that abstracts this process, and logs the resulting CSV content—which contains CSS named colors—to the console. No data visualization or rendering occurs; the focus is purely on data acquisition and parsing fundamentals.

Fork of Fork of Fork of Fork of HTML Starter

This example shows a grid of 18 cartoon faces, each randomly generated with different eye positions, eye radii, and mouth shapes. It demonstrates how React components can be composed to create reusable visual elements, with each face built from separate `Face`, `BackgroundCircle`, `Eyes`, and `Mouth` components. The code uses React (v17) for component rendering and D3’s `arc` generator to draw the mouth paths, while `d3.range` creates the grid layout. All faces are rendered as SVG elements within a coordinate system centered via SVG transforms.

Fork of Fork of Fork of HTML Starter

This example uses React to generate a grid of cartoon faces, each with randomized eye and mouth sizes. The faces are drawn using Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) components, with the `d3.arc` API creating the curved mouth shape within a `path` element. Each face is composed of a yellow background circle, two eyes positioned by offset values, and a mouth whose radius and width vary, all wrapped in a `FaceContainer` that translates the SVG coordinate system. The code modularizes each facial feature into separate React components, making the composition easy to modify and reuse.

Hello HTML

A yellow circle with a thick black outline and two smaller black circles as eyes forms a simple smiley face. The SVG is drawn directly in HTML using basic `<circle>` elements with attributes for position, radius, fill, and stroke. The code demonstrates a bare minimum HTML page that combines inline CSS to remove default margins and JavaScript-free SVG rendering in a static 960 by 500 viewport. This example serves as a minimal introduction to embedding vector graphics in a web page without additional libraries or frameworks.
