Bowl of Fruit - General Update Pattern Special Cases
This example demonstrates the general update pattern in D3.js through a bowl of fruit visual, showing how data joins handle enter, update, and exit states. As apples are eaten and replaced with lemons over time, the code uses `selection.enter()`, `selection.merge()`, and `selection.exit()` to manage circles and text elements, with d3.scaleOrdinal mapping fruit types to colors and radii. The visualization employs SVG shapes and animations triggered by `setTimeout`, highlighting special cases where exit transitions shrink elements to zero size before removal.
