This example animates a map of Walmart store openings across the United States over time, using a sliding date window to reveal dots as they appear. It combines D3 v7 with a topojson map of the lower 48 states and a geographic projection via `d3.geoAlbersUsa` and `d3.geoPath`. Store locations are loaded from a TSV file and sorted by date, while a scrubber drives the animation. The code uses `d3.create`, `selection.join`, and `transition.attr` to show and hide arrival points, with a blue dot marking the current store.

This example visualizes cities with populations over 50,000 as semi-transparent circles on a natural Earth projection, using a graticule, land masses, and interiors to provide geographic context. The map is rendered in SVG via React, with D3’s `geoNaturalEarth1`, `geoPath`, and `geoGraticule` handling projections and paths. City coordinates are projected from latitudes and longitudes loaded from a CSV, while country boundaries come from the World Atlas TopoJSON source.
