My First Chart

This example displays a horizontal bar chart of 2019 greenhouse gas emissions for the 11 largest GDP countries, with populations represented in MtCO₂e. Rectangles are drawn in SVG using D3 v7’s `scaleBand` and `scaleLinear`, with axes generated by `axisLeft` and `axisBottom`. A custom tooltip appears on mouseover, showing each country’s emission value. The code includes a static placeholder dataset, while the actual CSV loading and rendering logic remains commented out, alongside an unused rectangle animation group.

Two animated SVG panels show concentric circles whose radii and vertical positions pulse according to sine and cosine functions. Each frame shifts a time parameter, and the number of circles oscillates between 15 and 25. The example demonstrates D3’s data join pattern using `selection.selectAll`, `.data`, and `.join` within a `setInterval` animation loop. The code imports `select` and `range` from D3 v6 and renders the same visualization with black and white fills against contrasting backgrounds.
