This example shows the populations of the ten most populated countries as horizontal bars, sorted by size with a linear scale for population and a band scale for country names. The code loads data from a CSV file using d3.csv, converts population figures, and renders the chart as SVG. It uses d3.scaleLinear, d3.scaleBand, d3.axisLeft, and d3.axisBottom, with custom tick formatting for readability. The bars are styled in steelblue, with axis labels and titles formatted via d3.format.

A horizontal bar chart displays population estimates for ten countries, using each bar’s length to encode the population value. The chart is rendered as an SVG with D3 v5, employing `d3.csv` to parse the data, `d3.scaleLinear` for the x-axis, and `d3.scaleBand` with padding for the y-axis categories. Axes are drawn using `d3.axisLeft` and `d3.axisBottom`, while bars are appended as `rect` elements with steelblue fills.

A horizontal bar chart displays population counts for ten countries, ordered by decreasing population from China to Mexico. The visualization encodes values using a linear scale for bar widths and a band scale for country categories. Built with D3 v5, the code loads CSV data, renders SVG rectangles, and applies axes using `axisLeft` and `axisBottom`. The style uses steel-blue bars on a full-viewport canvas.
