Fork of Pathetic Bar Chart

This example visualizes the top 10 most populous countries as a "pathetic" bar chart with no axes, labels, or gridlines—just raw rectangles scaled by population. The code uses React hooks (`useState`, `useEffect`) to load and manage data, while importing `csv`, `scaleBand`, `scaleLinear`, and `max` from D3 v5 to parse the United Nations World Population Prospects 2019 dataset and compute bar widths. Bars are rendered as SVG `<rect>` elements, with the x-scale mapping population values to pixel widths and the y-scale positioning each country’s bar vertically. The chart intentionally omits all chart furniture, leaving only the visual proportions of the data.

Fork of Pathetic Bar Chart

This example renders a bar chart of the top 10 most populous countries using React and D3 v5, with bars drawn as SVG rectangles via the `scaleBand` and `scaleLinear` scales. The chart intentionally omits axes and labels, presenting only the raw data values loaded from a CSV file sourced from the United Nations World Population Prospects 2019. Data is fetched asynchronously with `d3.csv` and stored in React state, triggering a re-render once loaded. The bars are positioned using the band scale’s `yScale` and sized with the linear scale’s `xScale`, with no interactive elements or transitions.

Fork of Rendering Data with React & D3

This example visualizes CSS named colors as a radial burst, with each color represented as a wedge-shaped slice emanating from the center of an SVG canvas. It loads color data from a CSV file using D3’s `csv` utility, then renders the arcs with React components that call `d3.pie` and `d3.arc`. Each path’s fill is set directly to the corresponding color value from the dataset, producing a vibrant, full-circle spectrum.

Fork of Loading and Parsing CSV Data

This example loads and parses the CSS Named Colors CSV dataset, displaying summary statistics about the data—its size in kilobytes, row count, and column count—in a large text format. It uses D3 v5’s `d3.csv` function to fetch and parse the data from a GitHub Gist URL. The code also includes commented-out alternatives using the Fetch API with `async`/`await` and `d3.csvParse`, illustrating multiple approaches to CSV loading within a React-based visualization context.
