Missing Migrants Date Histogram

This visualization shows the monthly total of dead and missing migrants as a date histogram, with each bar representing one month’s aggregated count. Built with React and SVG, it processes the Missing Migrants Dataset using d3.csv, d3.bin for time-based binning, and d3.sum to aggregate values per bin. Scales from d3.scaleTime and d3.scaleLinear map the data, while custom React components render the axes and rectangle marks, which include a native SVG `<title>` tooltip.

Learn Stylized Bar Chart

A stylized horizontal bar chart ranks the ten most populous countries using UN World Population Prospects 2019 data. The code builds a React component with SVG rendering, using d3.scaleBand for the categorical y-axis and d3.scaleLinear for the numeric x-axis. Axes are drawn via custom AxisBottom and AxisLeft components, while Marks creates rects with native tooltips. d3.format converts population values into compact notation like “1.4B” for tick labels.
