This scatter plot displays the population of the top 10 most populous countries in 2018, using data from the United Nations World Population Prospects. The chart maps each country’s population on the x-axis with a linear scale and country names on the y-axis using a point scale. It implements custom D3 axes with tick formatting that abbreviates large numbers, and circles are rendered with SVG. The code uses d3.csv, scaleLinear, scalePoint, axisBottom, and axisLeft from D3 v5.
