This visualization presents the professional history and qualifications of Alex Roth as a UX researcher, using a force-directed graph layout rendered with D3’s `d3.forceSimulation` to position nodes representing jobs, skills, and education. The code reads the `resume.json` file to structure the network, where linked nodes show connections between roles and competencies. Interactive hover effects, implemented via D3 event handlers, highlight related nodes and adjust opacity to reveal relationships, while the graph uses SVG circles and text labels for readability.
A game-like map visualization built with CARTO VL and Mapbox GL JS challenges users to locate the hottest county in the United States. The map renders counties with a color gradient from cold (pink) to hot (teal), visually encoding temperature data. Players enter their name, start a timer, and click on the map to guess the correct county, with the gradient serving as a styling guide. The interface includes a progress bar and ranking display, all styled with Bootstrap and custom CSS.
This example demonstrates a map interface with selectable basemaps and data layers. Users switch between CartoDB’s Voyager, Positron, and Dark Matter tile basemaps via radio buttons, and toggle prevalence layers for years 2013–2016 using checkboxes. The code uses the Leaflet map library via cartodb.js, updating the tile layer’s URL for basemap changes and calling `show()` or `hide()` on sublayers for data visibility.
