A map of Boston displays hundreds of small dots that animate from a radius of 1 to 6 pixels over one second. The dots represent points from a CSV file loaded with D3. The visualization uses Mapbox GL JS for the base map and D3 to project geographic coordinates into screen positions. As the user pans or zooms the map, the dots reposition themselves in real time, with each dot styled in teal with a darker stroke. The animation runs on page load, and the map has scroll zoom disabled.
This visualization displays a map of community assets in the Boston area, with each dot representing a point from the TESTMap.csv dataset. The SVG circles are positioned over a Mapbox GL map by projecting each latitude-longitude pair using the map's `project` function. D3.js handles the data binding and animation, initially rendering small dots that grow via a `transition` to a larger radius. The map automatically re-renders the points on view changes, including `viewreset` and `move` events, to keep the dots aligned with the underlying geographic basemap.
