This example presents a bar chart that visualizes a dataset by mapping values to the height of vertical bars. The rendering uses the D3.js library, specifically leveraging its `d3.scale` for mapping data to screen coordinates and `d3.selectAll` to bind the data to rectangular SVG elements. The chart’s bars are drawn with SVG `rect` elements, with their dimensions and positions calculated through D3’s linear scaling functions. The visualization greets viewers with a static, aggregated view of the underlying data, without interactive or animated features.

smile face

A yellow smiley face is drawn in SVG, with black eyes, eyebrows, and a semi-circular mouth. The eyebrows animate by shifting their vertical position using chained D3 transitions. The face is constructed with D3 selections, using `circle` and `rect` elements for the features, and a `path` created with the `d3.arc` generator for the mouth. The entire group is centered and scaled, with the animation triggered on page load.

SVG

This example demonstrates basic SVG shapes—circles, rectangles, lines, and paths—positioned and styled directly within an HTML page. The code uses raw SVG markup embedded in the document, with transformations like `scale()` and `translate()` applied to groups, and CSS classes controlling stroke properties. Shapes inherit fill and stroke attributes from parent `<g>` elements, showing how SVG styling cascades. The rendering relies entirely on the browser’s native SVG engine, with no external JavaScript libraries, making it a minimal illustration of vector graphics fundamentals.
