K-Means Centroid Deviation

A multi-line chart explores how k-means clusters deviate from one another across 29 product categories found at farmers markets. Each vertical line represents a category, labeled with the percentage of markets offering it, and shows the centroid value for each of the five clusters as a colored point. The area around each point is vertically exaggerated by the centroid's minimum difference from all other clusters, so categories where one cluster stands out visually bulge and draw attention. Clicking re-runs the clustering algorithm, animating new centroid positions and exaggerations. A horizontal color legend identifies the clusters, and the visualization uses D3 v4 with SVG and animation to help answer which features differentiate each cluster from the rest. Need to write a concise description of this data-visualization example for a gallery. The description should be 1-2 sentences. Use the "Known metadata" and "Files" sections. Do not use code. Should be under 100 words. Start with the phrase: "This visualization" Draft this now. This visualization clusters U.S. farmers' market data by product offerings, using k-means to group markets with similar features. A parallel-coordinates-style chart displays 29 product categories, with colored bands that expand around each centroid to highlight the attributes that most differentiate each cluster. Animated transitions reveal how clusters deviate as the algorithm iterates. Source: gist, author VirginiaHNg, d3.v4, MIT license.
